Another dendrological opening for Wordle in a Minute today …

28 Comments

  1. Leary is also a word,i think.and after ebony,i would have guessed avery.

  2. Did my "Leafy" comment get scratched? Wow!

  3. First pushing the weapons of mass destruction story and now arboreal Wordle answers. Messing with us indeed!

  4. I had the same train of thought with LEAKY potentially giving me the best options.
    CREST – ALONE – LEAKY – LEAFY

  5. 5 guesses on this one
    Audio -> Grant -> Place -> Leaks -> Leafy

  6. Mark’s opening word streak currently:

    ALDER BIRCH CEDAR EBONY

    Theme: 5-letter trees, alphabetically

    So skipping is on the table for this streak. Luckily, F shouldn’t cause trouble, as FICUS is a pretty well-known tree

  7. Nothing like a little WIAM while burning the midnight oil.

  8. My fastest solve ever, probably – around 10 seconds. 😀
    STARE -> LEAFY

  9. I guessed LEARY before I guessed LEAFY. LEARY is the other word that would work.

  10. I like the camera angle – your head is not blocked by the text at the bottom of the screen. Now I can see your reactions and enjoy your commentary even more, Mark. Thanks for these daily treats.

  11. I wish they were messing with you, but I suppose it is just spring

  12. Also got it in 4. Point, deals and leave. Then I remembered someone in the comments yesterday say that today’s word was appropriate so I tried leafy

  13. Huh, I went with dutch for Dutch elm. Shouldn't have stretched it, now I am out of sync.

  14. CHORD -> STING -> BLAME -> LEAFY

    Fairly unusual to get no hits after two guesses. Third guess got me what I needed to find the answer, though.

  15. After 357 plays, my first solve in one! So exciting!! My botany connections finally paid off!🎉

  16. I suppose what we need to do is think of other plant-related words that NYT might put in! TRUNK, GROVE, SHRUB?

  17. What? Wordle messing with us? Never! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Well done, Mark! 👏👏👏👏

  18. A possible starting word for tomorrow is FAGUS. The latin name for the genus of beech trees.

  19. This one nearly got me with a hard mode trap: EARNT/LEADS/LEACH/LEAVE/LEAKY/LEAFY

  20. I got stuck in the same trap as Mark ( _ E A _ Y ), except I didn't solve my way out of it. Oops.
