Trying to get this thing done in a minute or less again – sometimes the opening word sequence can get a bit lucky!

31 Comments

  1. 5 for me
    Light -> Ample -> Sleek -> Fleck -> Clerk

  2. Mark’s opening word streak currently:

    WHOSE WOODS THESE THINK HOUSE WATCH HORSE QUEER GIVES BELLS SHAKE THERE OTHER SOUND SWEEP DOWNY FLAKE

    Theme: The 5-letter words in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”, a poem by Robert Frost

    On the last stretch now! MILES is next, for “and miles to go before I sleep”

  3. My first word narrowed it down to only one possible answer so I got this one in two.

    Chore > Clerk

  4. I love when the music is too loud or when he has to do a voice over commentary because the audio messed up. It reminds me he’s human.

    Thanks for the consistent videos! You’ve been a part of morning routine for almost 2 years now.

  5. Got this in two:
    Stare -> Clerk

    Honestly couldn't think of another word that would work.

  6. I got it in 3, if you consider that a filer could be a clerk 🙂
    EARNT/RESOW/FILER/CLERK

  7. FLAKE-CLERK. There were only 2 possible solutions after FLAKE (sleek and clerk). Next up should be MILES. I’ll give SMILE a shot, since I don’t like to use impossible starting words.

  8. CLAIM->CLOUD->CLEVE->CLEPT->CLERK. Meant to type CLEFT not CLEPT but no matter as neither was correct.

  9. I had lots of yellow on this one. I tried every position for E and R before finally getting it on guess 5. Tripe>Loner>Relax>Early>Clerk

  10. SPARE -> ENTRY -> WEIRD -> CLERK (took me a while to think of that 😅)

  11. Loving the videos every day!
    An interesting starting theme might be "bad starting words" — like "error" or "no-nos" or "pop-up" that have a lot of repeats. Couldn't come up with better examples (2-letter options?) but I'm sure the community could create a great list!

  12. Flake > Sleek > Clerk!!!! I love that Mark and I had exactly the same solve path, though he definitely got it faster than I did.

  13. You pronounce it clark? Really? How is it I never noticed that before…
    Nicely done Mark!! The puzzle gave you a scare, but you beat it with time to spare. 👍

  14. CHORD -> CURRY -> CLART -> CLERK

    All greens, so that's kinda nice. I didn't expect CLART to be accepted as a word. Had to look that one up later.

  15. Took a while to land on the correct vowel.
    BLUSH – FLOAT – CLING – CLERK

  16. I’ve learned more words here than in school 😅

  17. As office boy I made such a mark
    That they gave me the post of a junior clerk.

    Gilbert & Sullivan

  18. Three for me: SHIRT, ALONE, CLERK. More luck than anything else, I think.

  19. Meanwhile, I had an all-yellow solve for today's puzzle.

  20. Thank you for pronouncing it correctly. The other solves I've seen of this have been highly irritating!
