Uh-oh, it’s the melancholy music (Premonition by Kurt-Hugo Schneider). What does it mean today?

  1. What is the music in the background? It's lovely

  2. I am so looking forward to when you break that old record of yours.

  3. Mark’s opening word sequence currently:

Theme: Words which fit the pattern “_____fish”, alphabetically

Tomorrow’s word could be CREST for the crestfish, a weird ribbon-like fish (that is not an eel)

  4. Adieu is definitely one of my starting words. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing you break your old streak record.

  5. 'We'll see you tomorrow if we can ABIDE the VAPID CORAL without saying ADIEU.'

  6. CORAL-STAGE-MAIZE-ABIDE. Next up, we will try CREST as the starting word.

  7. Always amazes me when Mark thinks of words like amide but misses obvious words like aside

  8. REACT > KNEAD > ABIDE Pleased with that, but I too struggled to get the yellow letters in the correct place

  9. I got my second two with this one 🙂

  10. Started with a different fish but it made it much easier on my end at least.

  11. Hooray, it's been a while since I had a two: 😁
    A L I E N

    A B I D E

  12. cant wait to see what he does for tomorrow, it literally broke my streak

  13. I had a very fortunate first guess to keep my streak of 3s alive.

  14. The Dude approves of yesterday’s Wordle, man

  15. Nice narrowing that down, Mark.
    Good job

  16. Heading to the dictionary again, not only to look up AMIDE but also to see the relationship between ABIDE and ABODE. I had never thought about their forms until today. Thanks, as always, Mark.

This took me a while. Every attempt to shuffle the yellows just got me a new yellow. Then suddenly it's all green. I can't imagine many options remained, at that point.

  18. Stare > Blade > Abode > Abide

Another 4 that was nearly a 3, two days in a row. Fair enough though, I thought of Abode so quickly, Abide wasn't even on my radar.

  19. I also went via ADIEU — SHIRT, ALIGN, ADIEU, ABIDE. I bet a lot of people got this in 2 starting from ADIEU. 😺

  20. has he revealed what this music track name is called? I'm dying to know! ToT

  21. STERN > BLAME > ABOVE > ABIDE. I was surprised that ABOVE was wrong, but now I see it has been the answer before.

  22. I was stuck for ages too, after my third guess. STORE PLANE GAUGE ABIDE.

A good day for ADIEU players I think.

  23. This one caught me off guard! It's been one of my start words, used in #953, #955, amd #958 (I've started at #950/951), so this could easily have been a 1! ALIEN, ABUSE and ADIEU would also have come easy, but I was in different speres!

Today's word was strange for my non-native English tongue. My streak was in danger, because after a good start, I had too many possibilities, and I could not exclude one of them! Luckily, my second attempt was successful, but I still wonder. I'm not alone, saw comments like "is this a word", "entered it for fun", or "just wanted to test letters"…

  24. i was extremely lucky in this one!

  25. 😮🎉😅🎉AIslE->ABIDE I'm loving using aisle as a starter word!

  26. What a nail-biter! I did not read the comments, so I was worried about the streak. "Phew"! 😀
I got stuck in HMH with __IDE, but pulled it out in 5.
    Thanks for the video, Mark!!

  27. A 4 for me today. Again, NYT started memy streak over. Should be at least 25. So aggravating!

    ⬛️⬛️🟨🟨⬛️ CREAM
    ⬛️⬛️🟨⬛️🟩 STALE
    🟩🟩⬛️🟩🟩 ABODE
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 ABIDE

  28. Trying out as many vowels as possible helped me get this one in 3

  29. was a 3-guesser for me: EARTH -> ANKLE -> ABIDE

  30. Ha hahr, got it in two, by not using my usual starter word ARISE:

  31. This one almost got me, FIELD – DEITY – PRIDE – GUIDE – OXIDE – ABIDE. Still had ASIDE and apparently AMIDE as potential spoilers
