Today’s opening word is THERE – will that make it difficult to get Wordle done in a minute or less?

  1. You shouldn't guess words that have the same green letters that you already know on the second and third turn. All you are doing is limiting the new information that you get to three or two letters instead of five.

  2. i always start with pious, tackles 3 vowels in one word

  3. It's not the New York Times, it's the universe.

  4. 4 as well for me
    Diner -> Frown -> Scorn -> Shorn

  5. Took two Entry -> Shorn (I wish you could look at previous day's guesses, rather than trying to remember them or write them down). Current distribution 0,2,11,18,4,1,0

  6. Had a pretty easy time, my first word uses 3 vowels.
    Auger – Shirt – Shorn

  7. Will Mark repeat words – "Miles" and "Sleep" or just end it at the first sleep?

  8. Mark’s opening word streak currently:

    WHOSE WOODS THESE THINK HOUSE WATCH HORSE QUEER GIVES BELLS SHAKE THERE

    Theme: The 5-letter words in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”, a poem by Robert Frost

    Next one should be OTHER, for “the only other sound’s the sweep”

  9. Definitely an unusual, tricky word.
    CRUST – SHARP – SHORE – SHORN

  10. Two for me.

    SNARL > SHORN

    Super duper lucky. SNARL narrowed it down to either SHORE or the solution and SHORN seemed like such a NYT type of response.

  11. I had such a good start that I was mad I didn't get it in 2. Then I actually typed in the correct answer at 3, but changed my mind. SNORT > SCORN > SWORN > SHORN

  12. Got there in an odd path in 4…
    EARNT/KNURL/SCORN/SHORN

  13. It’s not The NY Times selecting the words. In theory if they keep the game true to its creator.

  14. I failed this one! I didn’t even know this word! English is not my native language!

  15. There > Shard > Shirk > Shorn. Lol I’ve been using the pattern to have the same opening word, and we had almost exactly the same solve path except for a single letter.

  16. I try to use a word with four consonants as my starting word, but I also pick a word with some meaning for my life or activities. So sometimes it’s a multi vowel starter. Thanks for these daily treats, Mark.

  17. THERE-CHARM-SHIRK-SHORN. I believe SHORN was the only possible solution for Mark and I after the 3rd guess. Next up, we’ll try OTHER for today’s Wordle.

  18. CHORD -> SHORT -> SHORE -> SHORN

    With three greens out of the gate, you'd think I'd have gotten this quicker. But that final letter just did not want to be found.

  19. 6 for me. Don't even remember all the guesses i had

  20. I got this one and immediately said, "We'll call him Sean."

  21. The NYT didn't make the list of words, it was curated by the original creator, and it has barely changed since

  22. How did ESL players fare on this one? Or people under 30(?). I think this word was shorn its place in common vocab well over 150 years ago.

  23. What? The NYT messing with us? No way…. 😂😂😂😂
    Nicely solved, Mark! 👏👏👏
    I got stuck in HMH with SHO__, but managed to get it in 5. Luck + good guessing.
    See you tomorrow!!

  24. Got this in 5 but a very long 5 bc I didn’t know the word shorn ;-;

  25. “There I started with it” lol I love it

  26. NICE VIDEO
