Luck, or strategy? Keeping the streak alive – or going for the lowest number of guesses? Choices, choices …

  1. Funnily enough, I toggle between starting with 'trace' and 'slate'. When I start with TRACE and only get a yellow t, then my next guess is SIGHT so I got a 2 while unfortunately you got it in 5. Then again, I don't play hard mode either as I'm just not that talented.

  2. Two Bits, Four Bits
    Six Bits, A dollar
    All for TEAM 5
    Stand up and holler!

  3. WISHT would have avoided reusing the R which was already ruled out for the 4th word. Good strategy though.

  4. I was looking forward to this video, SASSY followed by SIGHT is about as bad as it gets. I wonder how many people lost their streak to this double, surely the statistic must be higher than normal. My streak is at 105, so far I have survived:POLYP SNAKY INDEX GNASH WHISK RAYON RIGHT (brutal, this is the one that ended Mark’s streak) ROCKY DADDY SKUNK NINJA, and of course, SASSY and SIGHTKeep it up, me. Lol

  5. I thought he was going to try midst to letter mine, but first worked well enough.

  6. Very cleverly done, considering the hard mode!

  7. goes back to rewatch last night’s video solve
Why did you recommend this? Because you try a word that won’t be right?

  8. Well played! I think those two words consecutively were interesting as if you had a green S at the start with SASSY you would get into trouble but then this one if you had the S at the start it was easy.

  9. I'm surprised there isn't an even harder mode where you can't use a ruled-out letter again.

  10. Why is this not classified as a short. Please keep the format different. Only way to filter between Sudoku and Wordle videos

  11. EXCELLENT, so nice to see you foresee a hard mode trap and try a word to avoid it

  12. How does it even accept first? When I type in words that are not possible anymore, the app just shakes and says no.

  13. I was lucky getting the starting letter right away.
    SPARE – SHOUT – SIGHT

  14. Mark’s opening word sequence currently:

AGENT BAKER CLERK DIVER ENVOY FIXER GUARD JUDGE MODEL NURSE OILER PILOT QUEEN RULER SMITH TUTOR

Theme: 5-letter professions, in alphabetical order

USHER is a natural choice for tomorrow

  15. According to Wordle Helper, after the 3rd guess, 6 possibilities were left, 4 of them end in IGHT. There was no way of solving this without luck.

After Marc put in FIRST, only one possible answer was left.

  16. MIDST would have been a word, that wouldn't had repeated gray letters, but I have never heard of it.

  17. I definitely would have fallen into the hard mode trap there, although I was lucky with this word where my starting guess gave me all I needed (GUEST – SIGHT)

  18. I got lucky:
    A L I E N

    S T R I P

    S I X T H

    S I G H T

  19. At one moment I was expecting the answer to be a DIGIT, which would be suitable for this channel, but looks like its not this time.

  20. Got lucky on guess 3 which help me avoid HMH
    🟦⬛⬛⬛⬛TUTOR
    ⬛⬛⬛⬛🟧PLEAT
    🟧🟦🟦⬛🟧SHIFT
    🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧SIGHT

  21. I was lucky and got the S early. Board>Spite>Sight

  22. 4 Again today,

    ⬛⬛🟨🟨⬛MUSIC

    🟩⬛🟨🟨⬛SPITE

    🟩🟩🟨⬛⬛SITAR

    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩SIGHT

  23. I got really scared for the streak when the video not only wasn't a minute long, but also had this music in the background! Especially considering this could be not light, but mighty fight for SIGHT, right?

  24. Stare > Shout > Sight.

Glad I didn't fall into hard mode heck, not so soon after Sassy.

  25. TUTOR-STALE-SMITH-SIGHT. Next up must be USHER. Hopefully it will usher in a good result!

  26. My 4th turn was completely wasted, reusing the 2nd and 3rd yellow letters in the same spots 🙁

    Wordle 879 5/6*

    ⬛⬛⬛⬛🟩 EARNT
    ⬛⬛⬛⬛🟩 CLOUT
    ⬛🟨🟨🟨🟩 WHIST
    🟩🟨🟨⬛🟩 SHIFT
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 SIGHT

  27. I also got into hmh but had eliminated all but four possibilities before getting there. I had, I think, four possibilities left and three guesses. I decided that BIGHT was the least likely, guesses the others, and got it in 6 in the end. Very well played, Mark. I love these of whatever length!!

  28. I've always considered playing a "wrong" letter a bit of a cop-out, but if Mark does it I'm full steam ahead from now on!

  29. CHAOS -> FRESH -> PUSHY -> SIGHT

Once the H was locked into position 4, I assumed we had an IGHT word on our hands. Thankfully I'd already determined an S was present, so I avoided Hard Mode Hell.

  30. This one beat me. I’m impressed you saw the likely pattern so early.

  31. I had a great day with this one ending in 3 for me! Getting the S in the corrext place on guess two sure helped, as did eliminating vowels quickly.

    ⬛️⬛️🟨⬛️🟨 ACHES
    🟩🟨⬛️⬛️🟩 SHOUT
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 SIGHT

  32. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  33. Did SPORT as a starting word so the critical s and the t were good right away luckily, got it in 3

  34. SMITH took away the normal concerns with this word shape

  35. The idea of using "FIRST" to break down the hard mode heck was absolutely brilliant.

  36. Well, the NYT plays dirty, so I don't think playing canny (esp. in hard mode) is anything to be ashamed of. XO 💪

  37. Mark's starting words are proving to be useful. Think he'll do well with today's one

  38. Midst would also cover two of the letters and be a possible solution, and assuming that the nyt wouldnt add a word like bight in you would be able to guarantee a win

  39. This was at least the third "_ I G H T" hard mode trap. Out of 11.

  40. What a waste of a letter with your first word TUTOR

  41. I used a different browser (after I did Wordle) to see just what unusual words the NYT would accept with an _IGHT pattern. AIGHT, BIGHT, DIGHT, KIGHT, PIGHT and WIGHT were accepted.

  42. Any idea why R was allowed? I thought Mark never plays a wrong letter

  43. i ended up using the word SNARF to test multiple letters for the first place
