Another day, another Wordle in a Minute … or is it?

  1. I got my first 2 on this one… Went with "point" first and then "whirl" popped in my head! As a non native speaker I just have to try anything I can think of 😀

  2. Mark’s opening word streak currently:

WHERE DEEDS COULD ARENA WHOSE SWEAT BLOOD COMES SHORT AGAIN ERROR KNOWS GREAT CAUSE

Theme: The 5-letter words from “The Man in the Arena”, a passage by Theodore Roosevelt

The next 5-letter word is KNOWS, which we already had; so I think tomorrow’s word will be WORST

  3. Had a choice between WHIRL and WHORL on my third go – got it wrong as usual.

  4. As soon as I got this one all I could think was "We whirl the world, the world we whirl…"

  5. 4 guesses for me
    Early -> Broil -> Swirl -> Whirl

  6. I decided to try Mark's likely starting word when I knew what it was (or might be). CAUSE > PILOT > GRILL > WHIRL.

  7. At the end it could've also been TWIRL

  8. Took me a bit longer to get to the correct answer, got it in 5: LOOSE-NAILY-CLICK-THIRL-WHIRL

  9. Genuine question here, Mark: why do you insist on calling 'consonant-consonant-vowel-consonant-consonant' a "New York Times structure"? The NYT did not invent the English language! That structure is just one of many in the English language, and the NYT does not deliberately include more words of that structure in Wordle than any other structure.

  10. I went PLAIN > SMILE and then stared for 5 minutes before guessing TWIRL > WHIRL and getting it in 4

  11. ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨SAFER
    🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ROUND
    ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜GRIMY
    ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜CHIRP
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩WHIRL

  12. Did it in 5, AISLE, FOLIC, BLING, TWIRL, WHIRL

  13. Some of my guesses have been eerily similar these past few days.
    FORUM – LITER – DRILL – SWIRL – TWIRL

  14. Your crossword experience definitely helps you in thinking about where in the word certain letters are likely to be. I love these shorts, Mark. Thanks!

  15. I had no idea so many ?HIR? words existed 🙂  Wordlebot tells me there were only 3, but I had to try all 3…

    Using @Ozzy.Kopec1's format:

    ⬛⬛🟨⬛⬛ EARNT
    🟨⬛⬛⬛🟨 ROUGH
    ⬛🟩🟩🟩⬛ CHIRP
    ⬛🟩🟩🟩⬛ SHIRK
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 WHIRL

  16. Yes, good job, Mark. I threw away an S looking for letters where I could have just as easily gone with Whirl on my fourth guess … but I didn't … oh, well…

  17. Not too difficult of a chain for me.
    Auger – Birch – Shirt – Whirl

  18. CHAOS -> WHELM -> WHIRL

I couldn't say what drove me to try a word with a W so early, but it was absolutely worth it.

  19. I got stuck in the hard mode heck of WHI__. WHIFF, WHISK, WHILE, WHIRR, and WHIZZ lead to a fail for me!

  20. I got it in 4, and then thought "That was right?!" Such a strange word…
Well done, Mark! You know, you're really good at these? ☺

  21. Why do you think they use the CCVCC pattern so much?

  22. Saw the answer and thought of Todd Talks "whirly" toy

  23. I was in similar situation but tried Twirl first which also worked

  24. SHIRT, WHIRL — very lucky today. I even beat Mark! And that almost never happens.
