Another day – what will Wordle bring? And how will it begin?

  1. On the third guess, when you realize it could be other, otter, offer, and older, you should optimize and guess something like holds to make it you will get it in 4 guesses. When LD pops up you would know, but you would also know offer is likely if Holds only has the blanks.

  2. damn I wish it was ogler that would have been funny hahaha

  3. If the word were "order", "odder", or "owner", then he probably would have lost his streak on this one.

  4. 4 guesses for me
    Slide -> Elder -> Alder -> Older

  5. It was my birthday yesterday so tried this first . Could not believe it when it went all green first go. I think that’s my one and only 1!

  6. A deceptively difficult word and a 5 for me as well.

  7. My "lucky" streak is still going. Out of the last four wordles ive gotten the first two on my second guess and the last two both on my third guess.

  8. I guessed ELDER before OLDER even though I had a vague memory that ELDER has been the answer before. And it was — I looked it up later. I need to pay more attention to these gut feelings. Got this one in five.

  9. I tried OGLER third so got it in 4
⬛⬛🟦🟦🟦A”OLE. *=H (surprise they have it as a valid entry)

  10. Mark’s opening word streak currently:

    Theme: ???

  11. I got a bit lucky with this one. I should have given it a bit more thought before jumping into trying double letters. Prick>Snare> Other>Offer>Odder>Older – Order was also an option that I didn't see until after. Oh well, that brings up the 100 streak!

  12. Older, I tried it to get rid of letters, surprised it was the answer

  13. SLATE-FLIER-BLUER-OLDER. Since we don’t even have a hint as to the new theme, we still have no clue as to what is up next. Sigh…

  14. This one broke a (highly aberrant) 5 day streak of 3s for me, but got it in 4

  15. Given the spirit of what day it was, I started with PLANE. Then GLUED, ELDER and OLDER for four. I should have had it in three but I was trying to be clever with the double E.

  16. Chapter of Mark's future Autobiography – "The 3's and the 5's: What are the odds?"

  17. My friend group starts every day’s wordle with yesterday’s answer and it keep it fresh and entertaining while adding some difficulty

  18. I was also dubious about a comparative, but had to try it. I love the opening word sequences, too. Thanks for the multilayered content you fit into these 1-minute videos, Mark.

  19. Got this in 3, taking my streak up to 60 — which means my streak is now OLDER!

I considered trying OLDER third, but I thought this might be one of those situations where Wordle punishes players for trying to squeeze in more letters.

  22. A 3 for me. Getting 3 yellows in the first guess was helpful.

    ⬛⬛🟨🟨🟨 YIELD
    🟨🟨🟩⬛🟨 LODGE
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 OLDER

  23. Mark, you bring joy to my day every day with these!

  24. Is there a chance we could ever see a Mark series doing the NYT Mini Crossword? I think he could get those in under a minute if I regularly do as well.

  25. I want a T- shirt that reads "And the fives strike back "

  26. SPARE -> TREND -> DEFER -> WIDER -> ODDER -> OLDER (😅 that was close, and a few options still existed after wider… defer was a poor 3rd guess)

  27. The comparative is dubious as heck. Seems like the NYT allows some if-fy words when they're insulting to the player. 🤔
Anyway, well done to you Mark!! The 5s strike back, yes, but the 6s stayed away. 🥳

  28. "The fives strike back" or "Revenge of the fifth"

  29. Phew! 6 with this one. HONEY, CAMEO, OTTER, OFFER, ORDER, OLDER.

  30. I believe he's quoting Brittany Spears. Toxic will be his next word.

  31. My second loss in a week! After a 100 day streak! I was down to offer or older, but didn’t think it would be a superlative. Smh…

  32. I'm annoyed that I keep re-using yellow letters in the same spots 🙁

    Wordle 814 6/6*
