  1. Given Whist, for my 3rd guess I thought of Plait, but went with Trait so I got it in 4 with Plait.

  2. STERN, WITTY, FAITH, PLAIT

    Wordle 1,019 4/6*
    ⬛🟨⬛⬛⬛
    ⬛🟨🟨⬛⬛
    ⬛🟨🟨🟨⬛
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

  3. Pronounce like PLAT. I used to wear plaits as a child.

  4. pronounced plat (short A) in North America too. I had to look up to see if there was an additional meaning and/or pronunciation. Nope, it just means a single braid or a verb – the act of creating braids – "to plait ones hair). Maybe the word is more common with females? With the A in the middle and the E ruled out, I automatically go to consonant blends, although await was a possibility. With S and R, out of the equation that limits the available words if the word starts with a consonant blend.

  5. So today was a trip down Memory Lane. I wore my waist length hair in plaits until I was about 13. My mom and dad called them pigtails. Sweet memories of my mom plaiting my hair every morning. (She pronounced it “platt”.)
A “2” for me today. There were several choices, already used, and a 50/50 with “thank”. But how could I resist.
    sTAre- PLAIT

  6. I had a neuro issue a while back and in rehab, Wordle was recommended for therapy. I really struggled with it at first. but when I came across your channel, listening to you talking through your thought process, it really helped me to have more success and enjoy Wordle more. What I've been doing is solving the puzzle and then watching your solution. My goal is to better myself, not to compete against others. My longest streak so far is 123 days but what pleases me more is my success rate is 98%. Thanks for your help as part of my therapy. Hope you are enjoying Florida.

  7. Me too – very big in England in the 1940's!!!

  8. ASTER is the best starter word because many words end with ER.

  9. Endow (582) – Fruit (8) – Plait …………..with no e or o tried fruit for ui and plait jumped out at me.

  10. I hit the dreaded rabbit hole.
    ROGUE – PLAIN – PLAID – PLAIT

  11. Doug you said the answer early on… Of course you were thinking plate instead of plait 😉

  12. Great solve, Doug! I got this one in a lucky three. I try to incorporate three classic vowels in my second guess if the first guess yields little to nothing, and that really seemed to help a lot this time.

Here is what I did (with WordleBot skill/luck scores):

    Wordle 1,019 3/6*

    ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ BUNNY (64/21)
    🟨⬛🟩🟨⬛ IRATE (95/94)
    🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 PLAIT (94/85)

    WordleBot
    Skill 95/99
    Luck 67/99

Your starting word suggestion of GLITZ is fabulous! ✨ I think I would do PAUSE as a second guess if nothing pans out on the first one.

  13. Good job! I agree this was a difficult word — like yesterday. I got it in 4 today: AUDIO SATIN TRAIL PLAIT.

  14. Not ashamed to say I got it in 5. LANCE, TRIOS, VITAL, ALPHA (eval), PLAIT. Streak is at 784.
